I believe that some of you are currently wearing contact lens. I have experience of wearing contact lens myself.
The current news mentioned that researchers have developed a smart contact lens that monitors the wearer’s health and could display the information before their eyes. This is amazing!
This smart contact lens has been developed by Babak Parviz (University of Washington), a contact lens scientist where it can measure the blood sugar levels of people with diabetes, by checking their glucose levels in tears. The lens is made from polyethylene terephthalate – used in plastic bottles. This device also sends power to the lens using wireless.
A prototype was developed in 2009 and since then the team has developed miniature red and blue LEDs that could be embedded in lenses to display colour images.
